General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, MCAT

Founder of generalchemistry.org ! I've been teaching, tutoring, and making content for General chemistry, Organic Chemistry , and the MCAT for 5+ years! I've worked with 1,000+ students for countless hours. My tutoring style is very laid back, but at the same time I challenge you to think through tough concepts! I'm currently pursuing an MD with an interest in Radiology.

General Chemistry

Hi, I'm Justin! I graduated from Boston University in 2023 with a B.A. in Biology. I've been teaching General Chemistry for over five years, working as a Teaching Assistant during undergrad and as a tutor after graduating. I know how hard chemistry can be, but after working with hundreds of students I'm here to help you get the grade you want! I'm currently a 1st-year medical student with an interest in interventional cardiology.

Marta Sliwa, Ph.D.

General Chemistry

Dr. Marta Sliwa earned her B.A. in Chemistry from Boston University in 2017 and completed her Ph.D. in Chemistry at Johns Hopkins University in 2024. At JHU, Marta’s research focused on developing new ways to design and control nanomaterial structures. Today, she serves as an Assistant Director of Doctoral Life Design at JHU, where she helps graduate students navigate their academic and career journeys. Whether in the lab or the classroom, Marta loves making complex science topics more approachable. She’s passionate about helping students build confidence, stay curious, and feel supported—no matter where they are in their learning journey. Marta has been tutoring Chemistry (among other topics) since her freshman year of undergraduate studies, and has thoroughly enjoyed helping students gain a better understanding of the topics they are learning in the classroom over the last 10+ years! Marta is originally from New Jersey (where she currently lives) and enjoys traveling and exploring new places whenever the opportunity arises. Outside of work, you’ll likely find her hanging out with her dog Jetty, cooking something new, diving into a good book, or buying yet another plant to add to her collection.

General Chemistry

Hi, I’m Nadja! I have spent the last six years as a teaching assistant for general chemistry at BU, including one year as Head TA, working with students from a wide range of chemistry backgrounds. I was also involved in chemical education research at BU for six years (you may recognize me as the voice behind pre-lecture videos!), so I’m comfortable sharing evidence-based strategies to help you succeed. I truly enjoy working with students and understand that each student has their own unique learning style and needs. I’m excited to build on your strengths and help you grow in the areas you need support as we learn chemistry together!

Physics

Hi, my name is Arjun Verma, and I’ve been helping college students with physics for a little over eight years now. I finished my Ph.D. in Physics at Clarkson University, where I kept a 4.0 GPA and was lucky enough to earn a few teaching awards, including one for having a 4.9/5 student rating. When I teach, I try to keep things simple and conversational. I know how overwhelming physics can seem, so my goal is always to break it down in a way that actually makes sense — and maybe even make it fun once in a while.

Organic Chemistry

Hi! I received my Ph.D. in Chemistry (Organic) from UC Davis. In graduate school, I was an Associate Instructor in Organic Chemistry, served as the head TA for General and Organic Chemistry, and TA for graduate level Organic Chemistry. I have also tutored students in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and MCAT for 5+ years. I approach teaching with a growth mindset and the belief that any student can learn and master chemistry. I recognize that studying Organic Chemistry, in specific, can be overwhelming but it can be fun to learn! I want to make sure that I provide a safe and comfortable space for students to learn chemistry and ask questions. Happy to help with your learning.
